You'll find a few miles of twisties west of Okmulgee on OK-56. The drive through Okmulgee State Park and around Dripping Springs Lake is a worthwhile, but watch the speed limit.
The spillway on Okmulgee Lake is a great place for a rest stop. North of the state park area is a wildlife management area perfect for dual sport riding between March and September. Continue on 56 to Okemah, birthplace of Woody Guthrie.
Each year Okmulgee has a downtown festival and they create a massive pecan pie. But bring your own milk!
Comments:Sad to say, but the Pecan Festival is no more. It was cashed in for a more generic July 4 celebration. Yawn.
