Ride Type:
Distance/Length:
2 miles
Highway:
US-69

This abandoned stretch of Highway 69 is near Limestone Gap in Atoka County. The road runs along a limestone ridge overlooking the current highway's alignment and the Union Pacific railroad.

Most travelers along this highway are headed to Dallas or Tulsa. The road is only a couple of miles long and was bypassed several years ago when US-69 was straightened. Scenic stops along this route are uncommon, so this brief but interesting side trip can offer a welcome break from the monotonous ride.

Interesting sites nearby are the ruins of the Limestone Gap School, railroad overpasses and Atoka Reservoir. To extend your excursion follow Tipperary Road south toward the Atoka Reservoir and OK-43.
