This is a great ride in the country. The ride runs up and down through the rolling hills. Start in Salem, Ohio and head south on Ohio RT. 9. The route has fast sweeping curves and beautiful views of the Ohio farm counrty. At Carrolton you can take a side trip to the state lodge at Atwood Lake. In the center of Carroltom, go west on Rt. 39. Follow it to Atwood Lake. At the small town of Dellroy, go straight on Rt. 542. The state lodge is 4 miles further on the left. The lodge is on a hill over looking the lake. The dinning room is a great place to have lunch. Sit by the large picture windows and watch the sail boats on lake. Go back to Carroton and pick up Rt. 9 west of town. Continue south on Rt. 9. Stop in St. Clairsville, Ohio for gas. Route 9 ends when it runs into route 148 south of interstate route 70 which runs between Wheeling West Virginia and Columbus, Ohio.
You can head west on 148 and pick up route 26. Route 26 is a very twisty country road which follows the Muskingum river all the way into Marietta, Ohio. Marietta is on the shores of the Ohio river. You can take interstate 77 for a fast ride back to north east Ohio..
