The Gloss Mountains stand in stark contrast to the open prairie of central Oklahoma. Sometimes called the "Glass Mountains" because of the shiny selenite deposits. Pioneers saw the selenite sparkle in the sunlight and thought they were made of glass.
Well worth a detour.
Located 6 miles west of Orienta, Oklahoma on US-412, not far from Little Sahara.
Comments:if ya like going in a straight line then this is a good place to go,but not much to see. not but 2 curves, ride somewhere else if you crave the curves Mt.scott in lawton is a lot better place to go for curves and a lot more things to see plus you can drive up the mountain vs having to walk up it
