The Wheel Jockey

The Wheel Jockey, it’s small, it’s easy to use, it allows you to do a lot of maintenance that you would normally need a stand for, at half the price. For specs, pricing and a video tutorial visit www.wheeljockey.com.

But I don’t use tutorials or manuals because I’m a manly man, I don’t need no stinking instructions. Then after picking my bike back up off the garage floor I went to the website to actually see how to use this contraption. I’m kidding, it is very very easy to use.

Also, as you can see, the Wheel Jockey is not very tall and it is used with the kickstand down. So even if the bike were to drop off the rollers it still probably wouldn't fall over. The Wheel Jockey is a steel plate with ball bearing rollers that allows your rear tire to turn while the bike is sitting still.

It worked flawlessly in testing. Put the rear wheel on the Wheel Jockey and while the movement was restricted of course, rotating the wheel back and forth took very little effort. It worked great. I took the Wheel Jockey with me to a local bike night and let a few of the squids check it out. One rider mentioned running the bike in first gear while lubing the chain. OK, so that works great on a rear stand with the rear wheel elevated and no resistance whatsoever. Just for lubing though, don’t clean your chain with the rear moving and in gear ever or you’ll lose fingers, but yeah on a rear stand with no resistance it works great. With the Wheel Jockey if you tried that… Okay, let me put it differently, IF you try lubing the chain while the bike is in gear and the rear is rolling on a Wheel Jockey please video tape it, because you launching your bike into whatever is in front of it will become an instant YouTube classic.

Wheel Jockey works great for what it is designed to do. It’s sturdy, compact and works very well. If you have a race stand in your garage you’ll probably use that before breaking out the Wheel Jockey. Also if I’m on a trip with buddies, instead of pulling out the Wheel Jockey to lube the chain I’ll just push and get a bud to follow behind me for 10 feet or so lubing the chain. Where I believe this tool is going to shine is solo motorcycle trips. I WILL be taking the Wheel Jockey with me on long solo trips because this thing will be invaluable on those types of ventures. Being able to just put the rear wheel up on the rollers and lube the chain by myself will be awesome. I will no longer have to ask the cheap motel proprietor to come help me lube my chain real quick. I was at a bed and breakfast one time on a solo ride, the proprietor used a walker, took us 20 minutes to finally get my chain lubed.

Final synopsis?
If you have stands in your garage you will use those. If you have buddies on your trip with you, you’ll use them. If you are on a solo trip, the wheel jockey will be the best thing ever.
Cheers!
