The fastest growing market segment for Harley-Davidson isn't Hell Angels or Bambis (Born-Again Middle Age Bikers). It's women. And you might be surprised to learn most of these women don't fit the typical ruffian stereotype.
More and more of the females hitting the open road are career women and retired professionals. While scooters are the most popular category with the fairer sex (about 25% of sales in 2003) a growing number of larger bikes are being purchased by women. Harley-Davidson sold about 23,000 bikes to women in 2003, up from only 600 in 1985!
