It's sad, but it appears the Star Wars helmet you hoped to find under the Christmas tree isn't going to happen.
Back in 2013 we told you about the Skully Helmet Project. The ambitious "augmented reality" project hoped to marry your GPS, smartphone and motorcycle to your helmet. Alas, the company went belly up last week leaving hopeful customers holding worthless deposits on a helmet that will never exist.
The meltdown occured after CEO Marcus Weller was forced out by investors over a failed deal with a Chinese company. The details vary according to who you ask- but the company shut its doors last week. About 3,000 customers had plopped down deposits hoping to own the first production copies of the Skully AR-1.
Rumors abound of a possible reboot, but nothing is certain at this point.
