Ice Delays Tulsa Toy Run

Freezing rain was forecast for December 9th, and Tulsa ABATE members decided to postpone the Tulsa Toy Run one week due to the weather. But nobody imagined just how bad it might get. The huge ice storm, which we dubbed Oklahoma's Centennial Blackout, crippled much of the state last week. Nearly a quarter million homes were without power in Tulsa alone, as ice weighed down trees and snapped power lines.

But despite the elements and logistical nightmares, hundreds of riders showed up and ABATE's 28th annual toy run really did happen.

New Ride Glove Giveaway

Places2ride.com is sponsoring a free drawing for a pair of leather riding gloves from Fox Creek Leather through the month of June. Riders who submit new places to ride (motorcycle trails, tracks, twisties or destinations) will automatically be entered for a chance to win. The more submissions the better the chance of winning!

News: Motorcycle Scams Abound

As the weather warms up and riding season approaches, the scam artists start coming out of the woodwork. It appears they've dusted off an old classic for this Spring: the Steal.

Classifieds across the `Net are being clogged with "giveaway" deals on desirable motorcycles. I spotted one on Craig's List just this week:

2001 BMW R1150 GS
low miles, system cases, only $2950

Vintage Bikes by the Bay

In the midst of San Francisco's fast-paced Financial District you'll find a unique corner bar called Eddie Rickenbacker's. Hanging from the ceiling are forty unique vintage motorcycles, most from the Twenties and Thirties.

The collection is eclectic, ranging from the ubiquitous Harleys to Clark Gable's Indian to a Danish sccot called a Nimbus.
