Motorcycle Riders to Ride to Work

Motorcycle and scooter riders' 19th annual commuting day is this coming Monday, June 21st. Participation in the yearly demonstration is estimated to triple the number of riders on the road. Motorcycle and scooter groups and organizations actively encourage riders to commute by cycle on this day. On Ride to Work Day, motorcycle and scooter commuters seek improved employer recognition and support for this form of transportation and increased public and government awareness of the positive value of riding.

Study Shows Bikes with ABS are Safer

A study shows that motorcyclists with anti-lock brakes have a better chance of avoiding accidents. A lot better chance.

Results of a study released by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) indicate that motorcycles with ABS are 37% less likely to be involved in a fatal crash. Wow. That's a pretty big percentage- especially when you're talking dead versus not-dead.

The data is taken from motorcycle accidents that occurred from 2003 through 2008.

Think. Ride. Then think again.

A new campaign from the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) has sparked controversy among some riders. The public service campaign, called "Think.Ride." is a series of short videos that encourage proper safety gear and safe, responsible riding practices, and discourages impaired riding and excessive exhaust sound. Another video tells car and truck drivers to watch out for motorcyclists on the road.
