Type of Ride: Street
Where: Grove OK USA
Road/Route: Northeast Oklahoma
Size/Distance: 235 miles
Highway 10 runs across the northeast corner of the Sooner State from near the Kansas border to I-40. This is a scenic, curvy ride- not hard-core twisties for sportbikes. Most of the highway is noted as a scenic route on Oklahoma state maps, but some stretches are more scenic than others.
On its northern end OK-10 south of Miami snakes around the Grand Lake area. Several nice rides can also be found on intersecting roads near Grove. This has become a popular retirement area so watch out for the Land Yachts.
Further down the road near Tahlequah you enter the Cookson Hills along the Illinois River. If you have time for a float trip this is the place. Along with some great roads you'll find historic sites like the Cherokee Nation and nearby Fort Gibson.
The southern end of Highway 10 passes by the Tenkiller State Park. Lake Tenkiller is one of Oklahoma's nicest with tall cliffs and clear water. The tiny Greenleaf State Park is another jewel along this road. Consider spending a night in their WPA cabins or camping sites.
