Cycle Gear is reportedly willing to spend up to $500 million for motorcycle accessory retailer RevZilla.

While the Benicia, California-based Cycle Gear operates more than 100 stores in 34 states, it's online presence is woefully lackluster. The acquisition of a trendsetter retailer like RevZilla could bolster the company's Internet sales, as well as image. In recent years Cycle Gear has filled its shelves with more and more house brands, better known for low price point than high quality.

Philadelphia locals are justifiably concerned what the future would hold for RevZilla- and their 200 employees. Born from the city's trendy tech hive, the company grew into a popular online gear retailer through clever video reviews and skillful social media marketing.

Cycle Gear is owned by the private equity firm, J.W. Childs.
